Corruption in transportation

Corruption is one of the major reasons why the Philippines is hindered from taking off to success. It is like an eagle that is equipped with wings more than enough to lift its body however, there is a large rock attached to its tail that keeps the country in the ground.

Traffic on the other hand has gotten worse every day, it is a struggle that every Filipino has to leave with. A typical person in the Philippines will spend 5 hours a day just for transportation which may be one of the reasons why there are a lot of people in the Philippines commit violations or worse crimes because of the traffic.

The Philippines is abundant not only of natural resources but law that will penalize or sanction a person violating the traffic law in particular. However, we see that a lot of violators being apprehended but just drives away with their driver license not being confiscated, and the apprehending officer smiling. It is only here in the Philippines where the traffic officers are being looked down by the violators. I believe that our laws on traffic are already sufficient, but for me it is the implementation that is the problem. Money dictates the implementation of our laws in our traffic. We cannot blame the traffic enforcers for letting some violators go, dignity cannot feed their families.

The government should set an example of being morally incorruptible and give credit to those follow. It is never too late to change the system and improve.
