Under the doctrine of Separation of Church and State, the church cannot interfere with the affairs of the state and vice versa.
Is there really a need to separate the affairs of the church from that of the state ? What are the effects of this separation in our country? What if there is no separation of church and state? Will the leaders of any religion turn a verse from the Bible into a law? Isn't that complicated ? Or not?
In my own opinion there should be a partial separation between the two. Partial, meaning we should give limitations or rules on how the church may interfere with the state's affairs . Our church should guide the people with their rights. Remember the Death Penalty? Death penalty was abolished because the church interfere with its implementation. The church believes that we are all entitled to live.
And now, the RH Bill. In this issue, the church should not intrude. For the state's intention in making this bill is to have a free access to methods of contraception , fertitlity control, sexual education and maternal control. The state see this bill as a solution in our growing population. For me, there is nothing wrong about it. The RH Bill gives us the right to make a decision with regards to family planning. What is wrong about that? Why is the church against the RH Bill? Is it because it is against the norm that a man and a woman should procreate?
See? There are some issues that we need the guidance of the church but at the same time , there are also issues that they should not intrude. Why ? Because there are things that the state and church see differently, diffent belief , different insights.
