I want you for President, Miriam Defensor-Santiago!

Among the many aspirants to become the next President of the Philippines, there is only one name that stands out for me  in terms of credibility and capacity for leadership and that is no other than Miriam Defensor-Santiago. She is well known for having served in all three branches of the government which makes her really ripe for presidency. In addition, Senator Santiago has received several awards and recognition for her outstanding public service. It is my belief that her strong personality, along with her remarkable credentials, would make her a good leader of this country.

Prior to her announcement of candidacy, I was actually thinking of not voting in the coming elections and just go with the flow as I don’t think any of the other candidates deserves my vote. In my opinion, the next President must be good enough to handle several major issues of the country such us corruption, poverty, and the recent territorial disputes in the South China Sea among others.  As it is going to be first time to vote in the May 2016 elections, with Miriam Defensor-Santiago I am confident that I will be voting for a truly deserving candidate for President.

At present, she is still one of the most popular choices to become the next president despite criticisms about her medical condition.  In one of her interviews, Senator Santiago said: “If I become president sometime in the very near future, this country will be much better than it was before.”

In a Rappler article by Jee Geronimo with a title “The Leader I Want: Miriam Santiago's to-fix list for 2016”, she presented Santiago’s stand on several issues that the next President will have to focus on: corruption, social inequality, climate change and disasters, foreign policy, overseas Filipino workers, and peace in Mindanao among others.

My vote is with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago in the coming 2016 presidential elections and I hope that the voting public will reconsider their choices of future leaders of the country in a way that they take into consideration the credibility and capacity for leadership. It is my opinion that we need the wisdom, character, and leadership of Miriam Defensor-Santiago in order to make a positive change in the Philippines.
