Who
will I vote as President in 2016?
This
question will best be answered by first knowing how I want to see Philippines
by 2020. Philippines has a variety of natural resources, brilliant people and a
big population of workforce. These will aid in the progress of our country. A country
with boosting economy, less percentage of population experiencing poverty,
built infrastructures similar to rich countries, with the lowest crime rate in
Asia, with the cleanest environment and air and preserved natural resources and
a country run by outstanding, non-corrupt, competitive and honest officials. This
is how is see our country by 2020. Maybe not totally rich as other rich
countries now but for the least I want to see our country boom in economy.
Moving
on to the biggest question, who will I vote as President in the 2016 elections?
I have read articles either supporting or lambasting our current candidates. As
a voter, my basis will be the accomplishments made by those aspiring
candidates. Legislation wise, I’ll go for Senator Miriam, besides her
achievements as a Senator and a Judge, she’s known for not having any
corruption issues. Her being Senator was never questioned because of her legal
skills. However, the executive department is different from the legislature. Never did I consider Binay as my President. For
me, the City of Makati is urbanized not just because of his leadership but
because of the businesses established therein. Moreover, it is the center of
business district in our country. Meaning,
the city earns most from the business establishments. His integrity as a public
official is currently being questioned because of his involvement questions
regarding the use of public funds. A person of long public service who is
honest and whose record is clean will fit in the executive position and so I go
for Mayor Duterte of Davao.
I
will go for Duterte. His long and tested public service enticed me of choosing
him. According to an article in rappler, Duterte’s record manifested his
passion to serve. A friend of mine from Davao told me how safe Davao is. Looking
at his platform, it seems that some of what he’s enumerated, he’s done it to
Davao and maybe he can do it to the whole Philippines as well. Though the
growth of one’s country does not depend only on one person, I believe Duterte
has that will and capability to lead what I aspire and dream of the
Philippines.
Speaking
of his works, many articles enumerate what his accomplishments were as a Davao City’s
Mayor. The support coming from his constituents manifest that he really has
done good to Davao. One thing that amazes me is how he has imposed disciplinary
actions that made Davao City a safe place. Maybe that kind of leader is the
type of leader needed by our country.
He’s
got to protect his and Davao’s pride and so I think he’ll definitely do what
his platform is. He earned the trust and respect of his constituents. His deeds
and accomplishments made him earn it. I think the daang matuwid started by PNoy
can be continued by Duterte.
